What Happens During Treatment?
During the Spring Thread® treatment, local anaesthesia is administered to numb the skin, ensuring a pain-free experience. The Spring Thread® is gently inserted under the skin using a soft needle. Its small, round cogs mould into the skin, lifting it upwards. Afterwards, the skin is gently massaged into a lifted position, and the cogs are secured underneath to hold it in place. The entire treatment typically lasts about one hour, and longer if the neck is treated.
What’s the difference between PDO and Spring Thread Lifts?
PDO threads are absorbable and typically dissolve within 3-4 months. They provide a rigid lift that can create a somewhat stiff appearance and may cause discomfort as they tether and pull on the underlying skin. In contrast, Spring Thread® is permanent and flexible, similar to natural skin, allowing natural facial expressions and movement without pain. Both types of threads stimulate biochemical changes in the skin temporarily. PDO threads are suitable for treating the face and neck, while Spring Thread® can be used on the face, neck, breasts, arms, buttocks, and legs. PDO threads last 3 to 12 months as the threads disintegrate, whereas Spring Thread® offers results typically lasting up to 5 years.
Is it possible to undergo the treatment again in the future?
Notably, the Spring Thread® treatment can be repeated in the future, and there is no requirement to remove the threads. Importantly, if you decide to undergo a facelift in the future, it can also be done without any issues, ensuring a seamless transition.
Is the Spring Thread Lift Procedure painful?
The threads are inserted pain free as they are carried out under local anaesthesia.
What are the effects after the procedure?
After the procedure, minimal post-operative effects are typical, and everyday activities can usually be resumed shortly afterwards. Taking it easy for the first two or three days is recommended and we advise up to a week off work, however any discomfort can be managed with painkillers. Tightness in the skin is familiar, and there may be occasional bruising and swelling, which typically resolve within about a week.
Any temporary lines at the temples, varying in visibility depending on the extent of the lift, usually fade naturally in the days following the procedure. A follow-up appointment should be scheduled within the week following the intervention.

How much does the procedure cost?
The cost of the procedure is £3500 for the face (normally £4000) The neck is £2500 or £2000 when completing the face
Can Spring Thread® tensor threads be removed?
The silicone Spring Threads® are designed to remain in place indefinitely and are made from perfectly biocompatible materials. Patients can comfortably live with them beneath their skin for their lifetime without noticing. However, in rare complications, they can be safely removed by an experienced practitioner.
How long do the results last?
Spring Thread® is non-absorbable and permanently integrates with the tissue beneath the skin. The effects of a Spring Thread® lift typically last between 3 to 5 years, varying based on the individual and natural ageing process, similar to a facelift. While this technique offers a time boost, it does not halt ageing. After several years, options include:
- Maintaining the results as they are.
- Opting for another Spring Thread® lift.
- Choosing a different rejuvenation method, whether surgical or non-surgical.
Are there any contraindications to Spring Thread® lifts?
There are generally no significant medical contraindications, except for certain autoimmune diseases that may pose risks. All patients will have an initial welcome meeting with a team member to advise further about this service and then after with the treating Doctor if you are interested in receiving the treatment.
