Spring Thread® – The Ultimate Anti-Aging Lift for Sagging
Skin
This unique non-surgical thread treatment is a rare find, providing a truly long-lasting solution to facial sagging skin.
Spring Thread® lifting has emerged as a popular treatment option
for those seeking to correct facial skin sagging without invasive
surgical procedures. While many threads are made of materials
that provide only a temporary lift, quickly disintegrating and
being expelled by the body, Spring Thread® stands out. It offers
a permanent, natural-looking lift, ensuring you look like the best
version of yourself.
How Does it work?
Spring Thread® works by replacing weakened connective tissue,
lifting facial skin diagonally upwards and back. This addresses
loose, sagging skin, restoring a more youthful facial appearance.
Immediate effects improve over time, continuing to enhance for up
to a year.

This procedure is suitable for individuals who:
- Are experiencing mild to moderate skin laxity in the face, jawline, or neck.
- Prefer a non-surgical alternative to a traditional facelift.
- Have realistic expectations about the results.
- Are in good general health and do not have contraindications such as severe skin conditions, active infections, or blood clotting disorders.
Why is Spring Thread Lift unique?
Spring Thread® is unique among thread treatments
due to its elasticity, which resembles natural skin.
It can stretch and retract, allowing it to lengthen
and shorten with facial expressions like your skin.
This ensures a very natural-looking effect without
compromising the lift. At our Sister Clinic Cosmetic Surgery of The Royal Liver Building, our highly skilled and renowned
facelift specialist, Dr Usman Qureshi, performs these
procedures, ensuring the best possible results.

FAQS For Spring Thread Lift
*Carried out in Cosmetic Surgery of The Royal Liver Building our CQC registered Clinic
During the Spring Thread® treatment, local anaesthesia is administered to numb the skin, ensuring a pain-free experience. The Spring Thread® is gently inserted under the skin using a soft needle. Its small, round cogs mould into the skin, lifting it upwards. Afterwards, the skin is gently massaged into a lifted position, and the cogs are secured underneath to hold it in place. The entire treatment typically lasts about one hour, longer if the neck is treated.
PDO threads are absorbable and typically dissolve within 3-4 months. They provide a rigid lift that can create a somewhat stiff appearance and may cause discomfort as they tether and pull on the underlying skin. In contrast, Spring Thread® is permanent and flexible, similar to natural skin, allowing natural facial expressions and movement without pain. Both types of threads stimulate biochemical changes in the skin temporarily. PDO threads are suitable for treating the face and neck, while Spring Thread® can be used on the face, neck, breasts, arms, buttocks, and legs. PDO threads last 3 to 12 months as the threads disintegrate, whereas Spring Thread® offers results typically lasting up to 5 years.
Yes, the Spring Thread® treatment can be repeated in the future. Some patients opt for maintenance treatments every 2–4 years to prolong the effects.
There is no need to remove the threads. Additionally, if you decide to undergo a facelift later on, it can be done without any issues, ensuring a seamless transition.
The procedure is pain-free as it is performed under local anaesthesia.
EXPECTED SIDE EFFECTS & RISKS
While a Spring Thread Lift is generally safe, like any cosmetic procedure, there are potential risks and side effects.
Common Side Effects (Usually Resolve Within Days to Weeks):
◆ Mild swelling and bruising at the treatment site.
◆ Temporary tenderness, soreness, or discomfort.
◆ A feeling of tightness or pulling, which settles as the threads integrate.
◆ Slight asymmetry, which usually corrects itself as swelling subsides.
LESS COMMON RISKS:
◆ Thread visibility or palpability – In rare cases, threads may be felt under the skin.
◆ Mild puckering or dimpling – This usually resolves as the skin settles.
◆ Localized infection – Proper hygiene and aftercare minimize this risk.
◆ Minor nerve irritation or sensitivity changes – Typically temporary.
RARE RISKS (VERY UNCOMMON BUT REQUIRE MEDICAL ATTENTION):
- Thread migration or extrusion – A thread may move or become visible, requiring adjustment.
- Prolonged swelling or bruising – If excessive, further assessment may be needed.
- Allergic reaction – Extremely rare (zero reported in the UK as of 01.01.2024) but possible in hypersensitive individuals.
The cost of the procedure is £3500 for the face and £2500 for the neck. There is a reduced price for the face and neck combined at £5500.
The silicone Spring Threads® are designed to remain in place indefinitely and are made from perfectly biocompatible materials. Patients can comfortably live with them beneath their skin for their lifetime without noticing. However, in rare cases of complications, they can be safely removed by an experienced practitioner.
Non-absorbable and permanently integrates with the tissue beneath the skin. The effects of a Spring Thread® lift typically last up to 5 years, varying based on the individual and natural ageing process, similar to a facelift. While this technique offers a time boost, it does not halt ageing. After several years, options include:
• Maintaining the results as they are.
• Opting for another Spring Thread® lift.
• Choosing a different rejuvenation method, whether surgical or non-surgical.
There are generally no significant medical contraindications, except for certain autoimmune diseases that may pose risks. All patients will have an initial consultation with a team member to provide further advice about this service, followed by a meeting with the treating doctor if you are interested in receiving the treatment.
The lifting effect is immediate, but final results improve over 4–6 weeks as swelling subsides and collagen production increases.
A Spring Thread Lift is just one of several options for facial rejuvenation. Alternative treatments include:
- SofWave – A non-invasive ultrasound-based treatment that stimulates collagen production and tightens the skin, improving sagging without the need for threads.
- EndoDefine – A minimally invasive, energy-based skin tightening procedure that enhances facial contours and reduces laxity with controlled heat application.
- Dr. Qureshi will discuss these options with you if you are unsure whether a Spring Thread Lift is the best approach for your goals.
