How does Plexr work?
Plexr utilizes plasma, a 4th state of matter, to gently evaporate the target skin. Unlike other skin tightening procedures that only remove the surface layer, Plexr leaves the underlying dermis intact. This process is performed in a dot-like pattern to minimize downtime. It results in the formation of carbon crusts that naturally fall off within a few days. As the skin regenerates, new collagen and elastin are produced, leading to a more youthful and tighter appearance.
Is Plexr safe?
Yes, PLEXR is a highly safe device when used by a trained doctor. You will be informed about the essential aspects of recovery and any potential complications that may arise in the long term. While those with darker skin have a higher risk of developing reactive pigmentation, our experienced Doctors have successfully treated many patients with this skin type without any long-term complications. However, suppose you have olive or darker skin. In that case, you will be prescribed a skin preparatory regime for 2-4 weeks before treatment to minimize the risk of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation. During the consultation, your expert clinician will discuss potential side effects and give you ample time to ask questions.
What are the side effects?
Plexr is a safe treatment. However, some expected side effects will last for approximately 5-7 days in most patients. These are a brown carbon crust, which is like superficial dots on the skin. These are covered well with the camouflage required after treatment. The other effect is swelling, which is most remarkable 1-3 days after treatment. By day 5, most people have no or minimal swelling remaining, although rarely, this can go on for longer. Pink fresh skin will be revealed after the crusts fall off- usually around 5-7 days. When a scab falls off a wound, you will notice shallow pits where the crusts are in the skin. These pits will gradually fill with newly generated skin rich with dense collagen and elastin. Pink areas may develop pigmentation, which is expected to resolve quickly. This is perfectly covered with the camouflage, so cosmetically, most people are “party fit” a week after treatment. The risk of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation is low as long as you follow the prescribed aftercare advice.
Does the treatment hurt?
Although some patients may experience slight discomfort, most can comfortably converse while undergoing treatment. Before the Plexr procedure, patients are numbed, and our clinic provides post-treatment care, including cooling and applying a soothing gel. Notably, patients have yet to cancel their plans for a second treatment due to discomfort experienced during their initial visit.
How long will the results last?
The duration of the results should be measured in years, not months. Even surgery cannot provide permanent results. It is essential to understand that ageing is a continuous process, and Plexr treatment will not halt further ageing. The rate of ageing and the perceived duration of results can be influenced by various factors, including lifestyle choices (such as smoking and alcohol consumption), sun exposure, racial background, and genetics.
What aftercare products do you suggest?
The initial 7-10 days of your recovery are crucial. Incorporating a topical growth factor formula into your routine can also minimize the likelihood of complications.
