How Does Cool Laser work?

Cool Laser harnesses the power of the Erbium Laser or Er:YAG Laser for short. The Er:Yaglaser is crafted to effectively address superficial and moderately deep lines and wrinkles across areas like the face, hands, neck, and chest. Compared to alternative laser skin-resurfacing techniques, the Erbium laser offers more precise heating of adjacent tissues, resulting in targeted removal of old skin cell layers. This precision translates to minimal damage to surrounding tissues and fewer associated side effects like swelling, bruising, and redness. Consequently, the recovery time is typically shorter compared to more aggressive lasers such as CO2 laser resurfacing.

Cool laser for pigmentation: The Science

At Aesthetics of The Royal Liver Building, our Cool Laser for pigmentation harnesses the power of light beams to specifically target and disintegrate pigmented cells in the skin. This advanced treatment effectively addresses unwanted dark spots by fragmenting pigment without causing harm to surrounding skin tissue or cells.

The Er:YAG Laser, employs nanosecond pulse laser energy to target and disintegrate excess pigmentation. Over time, the body’s immune system naturally eliminates the fragmented melanin. This laser operates at specific wavelengths of 532nm and 1064nm, penetrating the skin to target coloured pigments such as melasma, pigmentation, post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, freckles, age spots, and more. The power settings can be adjusted with precision according to each patient’s unique skin condition and treatment objectives.

Following the procedure, the targeted pigment may temporarily darken before forming a light crust, which naturally flakes off over the course of three to seven days. For optimal results, we typically recommend 2-6 sessions, depending on the type of pigmentation being treated.

Maximize Your Results

To achieve optimal outcomes, we advise an initial series of three treatments spaced monthly. The number of sessions needed, and their effectiveness will vary based on factors such as the type, colour, and depth of pigmentation, as well as skin condition.

Faq’s For Pigmentation Laser Treatment

By adhering to the recommended post-treatment protocols and diligently maintaining the treated area, the likelihood of pigmentation recurrence is low, unlike other devices. While pigmentation triggered by sun exposure may gradually resurface over time, consistent use of SPF and tyrosinase inhibitors can notably diminish this occurrence.
The treatment duration can vary based on the type and size of the area being treated; however, most treatments can be completed within 30 minutes.
At Aesthetics of The Royal Liver Building, our Cool Laser treatment concentrates heat at a superficial level, which does not cause any discomfort during the procedure. Following the treatment, the treated area may feel akin to sunburn for up to 48 hours. To alleviate any discomfort, we recommend using cold packs and our soothing Recovery Gel to minimize redness and inflammation.
It's crucial to avoid any alteration to the skin's pigmentation before or after laser treatments. Sun exposure can lead to hypo and hyperpigmentation, compromising the efficacy of the laser treatment. To ensure optimal results, refrain from sun exposure or tanning bed use for at least 4 weeks prior to and 4-8 weeks after treatment.
Additionally, consistently apply SPF while outdoors and refrain from using any form of tanning products throughout your treatment regimen, including sprays or lotions. Many of our clients opt for laser pigmentation removal during the autumn and winter months when UV exposure is minimal.
Pigmentation occurs as a protective response to UV-induced damage, triggering an increase in melanin production. Melanin acts as the skin's defence against further harm. Excessive melanin deposition in the epidermis manifests as freckles. With continued sun exposure, these freckles can evolve into larger patches known as 'age spots' or solar lentigines, commonly observed in later stages of life. Additionally, prolonged sun exposure can lead to the development of actinic keratoses, precancerous skin lesions characterized by a crusty, pink appearance. These lesions have the potential to progress into malignancies over time.
